Job Description
This critical position will develop new philanthropic and maintain, enrich and strengthen relationships with corporations and individuals in order to secure critical funding for the operations of The Salvation Army in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. This position will work cooperatively with the Development Director, Development Department, Special Events other Departments and Corps Officers to carry out the mission of The Salvation Army. This position will implement an advancement plan which will include corporations, businesses, current partners and work to find ways to support special events with sponsorship and other ways (volunteer engagements) to connect the community with The Salvation Army.
Responsibilities
Identify, cultivate, pursue and retain donor and contributor support. This position requires personal contact with donors, prospective donors and corporate decision makers.
Be the lead solicitor for sponsorship procurement for signature annual events
Build relationships with area businesses and organizations to create new opportunities for funding, awareness, partnership and volunteerism/engagement
Approach the corporate relationships as a comprehensive strategy for engagement with The Salvation Army
Strategize and implement efforts to secure new and untapped resources/donors
Be an active partner with The Salvation Army of Greater Cincinnati’s marketing campaigns for the purpose of fund development
Leverage external relationships to maximize public relations and mutual opportunities to benefit The Salvation Army
Secure and coordinate the annual Adopt A Family sponsors and corporate sponsorships. NOTE: The Assistant to the Development Department will assist with clerical and record keeping duties.
Primary contact for DHQ Administration to recruit and coordinate corporate volunteers for Christmas programs, Camp SWONEKY, and various additional events for Cincinnati, Corps, Programs and other internal departments requesting corporate involvement.
Receive, acknowledge and track all donor contributions and moves management through CRM system (Salesforce)
Prepare reports as needed
Assist with Corps fundraising efforts and find sponsorships or create opportunities for sponsorship
Maintain and enhance current corporate and donor partnerships and encourage new volunteer groups within corporations during Christmas Campaigns for the Red Kettle Season.
Work in close partnership with Special Events Coordinator
Communicate with Major Gifts and Planned Giving teams of potential donors and/or cross over engagements
Be an active participant on the Development Committee
Create and implement a plan to secure and cultivate corporate community relations which will include a comprehensive annual appeal, special correspondence and updates particular to the corporate community.
Identify and secure new corporate donor partnerships and leveraged relationships.
Meet fundraising goals and objectives as defined by the Development Director. Securing resources (monetary and in-kind) for the five area corps must be a priority.
Responsible for securing underwriters and sponsors for special events and campaigns.
Responsible for cultivating a strong community presence through attending networking events, attending association meetings, business functions and other events as appropriate.
Assist the leadership of The Salvation Army with the identification and recruitment of local community leaders to serve on The Salvation Army Board and/or committees.
Responsible for knowledge and implementations of Salvation Army Development policies, regulations and guidelines.
Keep donor information up-to-date and strictly confidential.
Will handle all other duties as assigned by the Development Director
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with corporations and/or proven sales experience and success
Effective interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication abilities
Proven expertise in building and maintaining positive relationships with corporations
A high level of comfort with direct sales and donor relations
A keen sense of leveraging relationships to secure maximum outcomes for all.
Able to work independently in a complex environment, managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities
Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals as well as meet deadlines
Proficiency in Word and Excel preferred
Ability to obtain and maintain driving privileges per Salvation Army insurance standards
