The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati’s mission is to develop and connect leaders, contributors, organizations, and ideas to build an inclusive Jewish community that helps people in need, supports Israel, and assures a vibrant Jewish future.
The Development Officer for Planned Giving and Endowment will be responsible for cultivating endowment commitments from a targeted list of current community donors and Federation supporters. This will involve face-to-face conversations and personalized follow up to generate meaningful results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Federations development team to identify, cultivate and steward prospective planned giving donors.
- Develop a fundraising plan for engaging new and stewarding existing endowment donors in conjunction with staff and key volunteer leaders.
- Coordinate content of the Legacy Flame with Development team and Marketing.
- Ensure that the Legacy Flame is current and up to date.
- Lead the Federation Create Your Jewish Legacy team of key volunteer leaders to cultivate, solicit and steward legacy gifts to the Federation.
- Personally manage a portfolio of 30-50 donors and prospects, meeting with at least five individuals face to face, per month.
- Work with the development team to ensure messaging regarding planned giving is included in the appropriate Federation marketing material.
- Provide strategic input and collaboration as part of the Federation’s overall fundraising team.
- Lead and/or assist in fundraising and stewardship events including but not limited to:
- Lead Sustainer’s event
- Lead Film Festival event
- Lead sustainer’s small group events
- Assist in any other events related to the Annual Campaign and Planned Giving.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, business development or significant involvement in the Jewish community.
- Financial fluency- have some knowledge or ability to gain expertise in estate planning and tax provisions that impact planned giving programs and affect donors decisions on planned gifts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and follow-up.
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to set goals, tasks and timetables and manage workflow.
- Must be organized, detailed and have ability to multi-task.
- Entrepreneurial, can-do attitude.
- Some early morning meetings, evenings and weekend meetings and events are required.
- Ability to work in and build strong collaborative team, both internally and externally.
- Commitment to the mission of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and knowledge of Jewish customs and practices.
$60,000 – 70,000 annual salary to commiserate with experience.
