POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Officer for Create Your Jewish Legacy provides the overall coordination and management of all the participating organizations in the program and is responsible for managing all of the aspects of the ongoing CYJL program. In addition, the Development/CYJL Officer will be responsible for cultivating endowment commitments from current donors and Federation supporters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the teams from each of the 23 participating community organizations to attain CYJL community wide and organization specific goals and sustain their commitment to the CYJL program.
- Oversee the CYJL steering committee which consists of 10-12 lay leaders; involvement includes but is not limited to- scheduling the quarterly meetings, preparing the agenda, leading the meeting and reporting out on metrics.
- Interface with Jewish communal organizations, including executive directors, professional staff, Rabbi’s and volunteer leadership, to manage their participation in the CYJL program and ensure their success in maintaining a legacy program.
- Plan and coordinate workshops for ongoing education and training of teams participating in CYJL.
- Work with the marketing staff to ensure that messaging regarding CYJL is included in various venues and is updated on a regular basis.
- Work with the Federation team to identify, cultivate and steward target list of prospective planned giving donors.
- Enter and Track all planned giving and endowment gifts to the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and other communal organizations. Enter and track all donor information in excel database and other software.
- Help coordinate the annual Legacy Society event and other Development Department events.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Financial fluency, preferable a working knowledge of charitable gifts planning and financial planning
- Prior experience managing staff or volunteers preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be proficient in Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly organized and self-directed
- Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with donors, professionals and volunteers of all ages

- Fundraising Mentality:Willing and able to make “The Ask” after establishing positive relationships with potential donors.
- Technical Expertise:Able to gain expertise in estate planning and tax provisions that impact planned giving programs and affect donor decisions. Able to work with donor management database.
- Client Service Mentality: Responsive, courteous, and professional in all interactions with potential clients.
- Community Minded: Passionate about the mission of the Federation and the growth and vitality of the broader Jewish community.
- Flexible Schedule: In addition to regular work schedule must be able to attend meetings and events that may occur in early mornings, evenings and weekends.
