DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Cincinnati Works has an opportunity to join our enthusiastic team fighting poverty in the Cincinnati area. We are seeking a Development Officer with a proven fundraising track-record who can continue to grow an annual giving base of support through face-to-face visits, direct-mail and on-line campaigns, and foundation and corporate grants.
Development Officer: Reporting to, and in partnership with, the Director of External Relations, will advance the mission of Cincinnati Works by spearheading annual fundraising efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Annual Giving Fundraising: Identify, cultivate, solicit, close and steward financial support by developing and maintaining relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Individuals: develop and execute annual fundraising plan, create and execute strategies for growing and sustaining a large base of annual individual donors
- Manage portfolio of prospects and current donors, responsible for solicitation and stewardship; all aspects of campaign-specific appeals; ensure proper acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship of donors
- Implement strategies to attract new investors, generate new revenue
- Foundations and Corporations: create and execute short and long-term strategies to increase foundation and corporate donations; write grants, all grant reporting; research and submit to new foundations and corporations
- Individuals: develop and execute annual fundraising plan, create and execute strategies for growing and sustaining a large base of annual individual donors
- Database Management: Manage fundraising database (Salesforce); be the liaison between finance and fundraising; generate contact reports; create and run fundraising reports
- Special Events: In partnership with staff and Development Committee, plan, execute and follow up for annual Impact Event and other special events

- Strong interpersonal skills: solid team player; ability to interact with diplomacy and tact with diverse groups including influential donors
- Record of successful annual fund campaigns and ability to reach and exceed metrics (funds raised, # of asks made, # of visits)
- Strong project management skills with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to juggle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
- Strong professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Qualifications:
- BA required
- 3-5 years’ fundraising experience
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, MailChimp, Salesforce, Excel
- Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
Salary and Benefits:
- Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
- Salary commensurate with experience and education

Cincinnati Works is a nonprofit organization that brings hope and encouragement to people living in poverty through a network of comprehensive employment services and over 75 employer partnerships. Founded in 1996 by Dave and Liane Phillips, the organization has helped thousands of job seekers below the federal poverty guidelines find employment and work toward economic self-sufficiency. Upon stabilization and retention of the job, coaching services are provided to enable Members to advance to higher paying jobs. This provides the community a previously untapped source of entry- and mid-level workers, decreased need for public resources, and solution-focused strategy to eliminate poverty in the region. These changes lead to the reduction in related problems including crime, poor health, and lack of education. With over 30% of the Cincinnati population living in poverty, the acute need for the organization’s services is clear. Cincinnati Works is primarily privately funded; the FY2018 budget is approximately $3.4 million.
